I posted "Hobbity-jibbity-gobbity-do!" on a blog. It appeared in my head begging to play, and this refrain was just so fun and bouncy I just had to get it down. A friend wrote... "It appears your cat may have taken up residence on the keyboard... or you've had one too many thesaurus sessions!" A Common Question from Writers: What is Highlights Foundation? It is no secret that I became a published writer through a unique path. Often when people hear about Highlights Foundation's magnificent workshops, the reply is "I didn't know Highlights offers writing workshops!" It's more like a writer's smorgasboard. Highlights Foundation is a non-profit organization created to encourage, nurture, and grow talent in writers and illustrators for children. They want you to succeed to bring more good works into the lives of children. In lovely Chautauqua, you'll spend a week roaming by gingerbread houses feeling like you're caught up in a Norman Rockwell painting. In Serene Boyds Mills you'll feel at home for days in peaceful wooded surroundings as you hone your craft on the Founder's Farm. You'll also enjoy tours of the Highlights home, meet editors, and learn the hisory of the Meyer's family where "Highlights For Children" originated. A tour of Boyds Mills Press will follow. Both experiences, Chautauqua and Boyds Mills, offer the writer a unique experience unlike anything out there with small group and one to one mentoring with publishing proffessionals.
